MONDAY

TUESDAY
– A bill penned by two State Representatives from the area, which aims to honor the sacrifices and service of Wisconsin’s Hmong and Laotian soldiers has passed the Assembly. Representative Shae Sortwell and Senator Andre Jacque co-wrote the bill and explained that the bill expands their eligibility for the Wisconsin Veterans Status on a driver’s license or identification card.

– Manitowoc native and Roncalli High School graduate Ben Stelzer is returning to his college alma-mater in Houghton, Michigan. Michigan Tech Men’s Basketball Coach Josh Buettner announced recently that Stelzer has been hired as an assistant coach for the upcoming season.
WEDNESDAY
– After an overnight stop in Manitowoc, the four men and one female, all students at St. Norbert College, are now on their way to Sheboygan, with the ultimate goal of marching to Milwaukee. Click here to learn more about the For Them Ruck March, and why the group is marching 140 mile to Milwaukee.

– The Mishicot Girls Softball team last night brought home the school’s 2nd ever championship trophy with both occurring in the last 4-months. The Indians defeated Juda/Albany 6-to-3 in the title game of the WIAA State Tournament played at UW-Green Bay.
THURSDAY
– For some veterans, or citizens who have undergone a traumatic experience, hearing fireworks exploding may result in some sort of Post-Traumatic Stress episode or flashback to that traumatic event. However, Manitowoc County Veteran Service Officer Todd Brehmer feels like if that’show you want to celebrate Independence Day, then go for it.
– The Sheboygan Police Department is warning citizens that it is illegal to shoot off personal fireworks within the city limits. Those caught violating this ordinance can be fined over $375 per violation.
– State Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere has penned a bill that will commemorate the Afghan people who aided the US by serving as interpreters. Click here to learn more about the bill.
