The Independence Day weekend is now here, and there are a ton of events happening all over the country.
On a local level, Fourth on the Shore will be taking over downtown Manitowoc, as Mayor Justin Nickels explains.
“July 3rd brings the return of Vic Ferrari in the farmers market lot downtown,” Nickels told Seehafer News. “Gates open at 5:00, and music starts at 6:00 with the Glam Band followed by Vic Ferrari. Food trucks and refreshments will be along the Manitowoc Riverfront, and a portion of the refreshment sales will go to Gumby’s Club Fore a Cure, helping local families affected by cancer.”

Then on Independence Day proper, it is Fourth on the Shore and SubFest.
“The parade will begin at 10:00 AM starting at the Manitowoc Courthouse and ending at the Yacht Club,” Nickels explained. “There will be a lot of music available, from Unwound and FBI and the Untouchable Forrest at the Yacht Club, the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra, Manitowoc Marine Band, and Rising Phoenix at the Maritime Museum, and Dr. Bombay and Charlie Bucket at the Marina.”
Also as a part of SubFest, the Maritime Museum will have $4 admission all day, and the Sunrise Rotary Club will be giving tours of the breakwater lighthouse from 10:00 – 5:00 PM.
Then, as the sun sets, it’s time for the big finale.
Mayor Nickels said that “The fireworks will be in the same location as previous years on the south pier and should start at around 9:30 PM. Thanks to Festival Foods for once again sponsoring the Fireworks Show.”
