State Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere has penned a bill that will commemorate the Afghan people who aided the US by serving as interpreters.
In a news release, Senator Jacque states that around 18,000 Afghan Special Immigrant Visa Program applications are still pending with the Department of State, affecting an estimated 70,000 Afghans if applicants’ family members are added to the total.
He went on to explain that the bill “recognizes their service to our country and calls upon the federal government to fulfill its promise to ensure their safety.”
