Four Appleton residents and their pet have been displaced after their home caught fire yesterday afternoon.
Crews with the Appleton Fire Department were dispatched to the 2400 block of South Eric Drive just after 3:30 PM to battle the fire.
When they arrived, everyone was already out of the home and was able to bring the fire under control after half an hour of fighting it.
While details about how the fire started were not explicitly stated, the Fire Department reminded people to put coals from a grill or fire pit into a metal can with a lid once they are cooled.
That protocol is the same for fireworks.
The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage.
