
One person is dead as a result of a shooting in Appleton early Sunday morning.
According to a release by the Appleton Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 2800 Block of E. Newberry Street at around 4:30 AM on a call about a suspicious person.
Officers were informed that an unknown man had broken into a neighboring residence, and the caller, who was locked in a bathroom in the residence, reported hearing yelling.
A short time later a firearm was discharged, and the yet unnamed victim later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
There haven’t been any suspects named at this time, however, the public is not believed to be in any danger.
