One of the newest insurance agents in Manitowoc wanted to show his appreciation to the local community, and did so by raising just over $2,000 for the Manitowoc/Two Rivers YMCA.
We spoke with State Farm Insurance Agent Todd Glover, who explained what exactly the Quotes for Good campaign is. “The offer at the start was for every quote we were able to provide, I would provide $10 to the Y,” he said. “We were super pleased with the branding, the awareness not only for my agency, the Todd Glover Agency, and for the YMCA. We didn’t get the level of actual quotes we wanted but that’s all right. It was still a great first year, and we look forward to building on it in the years to come.”
As for why he chose the YMCA to be the beneficiary, Glover said, “I felt very strongly that I wanted to be, when I moved to Manitowoc, a part of this community and help it be a better place. When I was looking I said ‘Who’s going to be a great partner to kinda start this process?’ The Y jumped out as a great place to start.” Noel Feider, the Donor Engagement Director at the Y told Seehafer News that many people see them as a “swim and gym”, but they are much more than that. “We are actually very cause-driven. We are here to help our community,” she said.
An example of that is at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, when they opened up a babysitting service for frontline healthcare workers. Feider said they had to work with the Department of Children and Families to ensure they were keeping themselves, and the children safe. She also said that, “We have multiple programs going on at this time, that we have started based on what the community told us they are looking for.”
An example is their swim lesson program they offer to adults and children with disabilities. Glover said that he plans on bringing the program back again in the future.
