A couple of area baseball teams advanced in the WIAA Baseball tournament with wins yesterday, while another was eliminated.
In Division 3, Chilton picked up an 11-1 win in five innings over New Holstein, while Mishicot beat Gibraltar/Washington Island 12-9. Those two teams will now square off next Tuesday in the Section semi-finals.
In Division 4, Reedsville fell to Shiocton 12-2 in six innings. Three Panther pitches couldn’t reign in the Chiefs, who picked scattered 14 hits. Reedsville’s batters were also making contact, as they picked up 9 hits, couldn’t bring enough baserunners across home plate.
There are a couple more area teams still alive in the tournament. Manitowoc Lincoln will take on Oshkosh West today in a Division 1 match-up, while in Division 2, Denmark battles Wrightstown.
