A longtime paramedic and 911 dispatcher for the Manitowoc County Joint Dispatch Center has fallen on hard times, and a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to “Help the Helper”.
Mary Zipperer of Valders set up the campaign, which explained that Lori Krueger has spent the last 40 years of her life as an EMT/paramedic and as a 911 dispatcher, helping thousands along the way.
She reportedly began suffering from back pain in September of last year and was in and out of the hospital as her condition worsened. It was eventually discovered that Lori had several pockets of infection around her spinal cord, and was diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome, which is the compression of nerves in the lower back.
Lori also contracted COVID-19, adding to her overall hospital time.
In total, Lori has spent over two and a half months in four different hospitals, which has caused her medical bills to skyrocket.
Zipperer ends the post by saying, ”Lori does not ask for help but is the first one to offer to help others. Can you find it in your hearts to ‘Help the Helper’?”
