Manitowoc Public Utilities has sent out a mailer to their customers, informing them that unidirectional water main flushing will be happening soon.
According to the flyer, Unidirectional Flushing, or UDF, “helps clean out particles that have settled in the water mains and assures better water quality.”
When they plan on doing the flushing, they will place signs stating so. While the UDF operations are happening, MPU asks that residents avoid using any water. If you must use water, they ask that you run the cold water until it runs clear, but a reduction in water pressure should be expected.
The UDF operations are currently ongoing in various neighborhoods throughout the city and will continue through November.
