A 24-year-old Manitowoc man was arrested recently after it was discovered he was involved in a sexual relationship with a minor.
The mother of the victim called the Manitowoc Police Department reporting the crime the morning of June 6th. The victim, whose name and age were redacted in the report, told police that she met the suspect through Snapchat, a photo-sharing cellphone app.
The child said that they “dated” the suspect for around three weeks, engaging in sexual activity on two separate occasions and that the suspect was fully aware of the victim’s age.
Two other minors were interviewed by police, and they said that the suspect made them feel “uncomfortable” while riding on a city bus when he offered to “hang out” with them.
The suspect has a history of violent and sexual behavior including being convicted on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Sexual Assault with Use of Force, and Strangulation and Suffocation, while also being arrested on a charge of Attempted 1st Degree Homicide.
He was taken into police custody on a charge of Sexual Intercourse of a Child Age 16 or Older.
