The lakeshore area’s representative in the State Senate has co-authored a bill, which he says will help empower those with disabilities.
Senator Andre Jacque of De Pere joined forces with Representative Jeff Mursau of Crivitz to introduce Senate Bill 158, which directs state officials to draw up plans for tax-exempt savings accounts that can help cover the cost of services those with physical and cognitive challenges need to live full, independent lives.
Jacque explained in a news release that Wisconsin is currently just one of seven states that do not have their own Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) account program.
He explained, “This bill should move our state closer to making these accounts more accessible and widely adopted by Wisconsin families who need them.”
