Over the last decade, the Eternal Flame Committee in Manitowoc has been raising money to ensure the city’s unique veteran’s memorial will remain intact, and now they are very close to reaching their goal.
The bank account for the Eternal Flame, which is located on North 18th Street, just south of Michigan Avenue, was nearly empty in 2012, and Former Finance Director Steve Corbeille determined it needed to reach $200,000 to keep the flame lit forever.
Since then, the Save the Flame Committee has raised over $190,000, and is looking to raise the final $10,000 through the “Save The Flame Golf Outing” sponsored by SeehaferNews.com.
The Fundraising effort will take place next Saturday (June 19th) at Autumn Ridge Golf Course.
Participants will take part in a four-person scramble through all 18 holes, with lunch provided. The entry fee is $65 per person.
We were recently told that there is still space for 15 to 20 more teams.
