Bail is set at $1000 recognizance for a 21-year-old Manitowoc man who was taken into custody after failing to obey construction signs on Maritime Drive Sunday afternoon.
Josiah D. Owens is charged with Possession of Marijuana-Second offense and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. A Manitowoc Police Officer noticed a vehicle traveling west on Maritime that appeared to have an illegal tint. As Owens pulled up to a sign instructing vehicles to keep right around construction equipment he veered left into oncoming traffic and was pulled over.
The officer smelled marijuana emitting from Owens’ vehicle and noticed an open baggie of pot and a handgun laying on the back seat of which he had no concealed carry license and was taken into custody.
Conditions of bail are that Owens maintain absolute sobriety and carry no concealed weapon other than a firearm for which he has a concealed carry license. His initial appearance is scheduled for June 28th at 1:30 p.m.
