Last week we reported that the Manitowoc Public School District Board of Education had approved the contract from the McKinley Charter School to move forward with a full distance learning option to families beginning with the 2021-22 school year (which you can recap by clicking here).
Now, more information on the Virtual Charter School has been released by the MPSD.
There will be no enrollment minimum or maximums, and licensed MPSD teaches will facilitate all of the virtual and in-person instruction at McKinley Academy, located at 1002 E Cedar Avenue.
While most students preferred in-person learning, there were some that adapted well to the virtual learning model deployed during the pandemic.
Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade will receive live virtual instruction five days per week in all of the standard subjects, while grades 7 and 8 will also be taught world language, health, and other electives.
Grades 9 through 12 will have three options, live, or recorded virtual instruction five days per week, a blend of virtual instruction two days per week and in-person instruction three days, or full in-person instruction all five days.
Parents who wish to enroll their students in McKinley Academy must do so by June 30th.
