With temperatures projected to be in the High 70s to low 80s in Two Rivers this weekend, Nashotah Beach is expected to be a busy place.
City Manager Greg Buckley was on WOMT’s Be My Guest Plus program yesterday, where he ensured all potential guests that the Beach is ready.
“Crews have been out grooming the beach, Rec Director Teri Vosters and her crews are on top of things,” Buckley said. “Our concessions operator, Ice Clouds will be in their second year at Neshotah. They are based in Green Bay and have a couple of very popular trucks that cover that area with their frozen treats and cold drinks. They will once again be running the Beach concessions and I understand are adding some hot side items this year, with nachos and pizza.”
Also, Mother Nature has cooperated, giving visitors even more space than last year.
“Lake Michigan…is down about a foot and a half from this time last year, and we have gained about 30-35 feet of beach,” Buckley explained. “It’s not as expansive as it used to be, but there is certainly enough room to accommodate visitors with the kind of spacing…that makes you feel comfortable.”
A little bit of what was termed the “new beach”, which was made following a dredging operation, did disappear over the winter, but Buckley assured us that there is a “decent amount of space there.”
