The drug problem reared its ugly head in Sheboygan this week, as three overdoses were reported by the police over a 24-hour span.
One of the individuals was a 30-year-old Sheboygan resident who did not survive his overdose.
Fentanyl remains the top suspect, as, over the past several years, usage of the drug has skyrocketed in the area. Fentanyl is a highly potent opioid that is typically mixed with other drugs, such as cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin.
The Sheboygan Police Department is encouraging anyone who suffers from a substance abuse disorder to seek treatment.
For those who know someone who uses drugs, try to get them help, but at a bare minimum know the signs of an overdose, and how to react. The best course of action is to call 911 immediately.
