The City of Manitowoc is receiving a $98,000 state grant to investigate and ensure the environmental health of the River Point District.
The Brownfield Site Assessment Grant (SAG) from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) will help prepare the 7.7-acre site to be redeveloped as part of the larger 20.1-acre River Point District Redevelopment Plan.
Between the City of Manitowoc and the Community Development Authority of the City of Manitowoc, the district has been awarded $524,550 from WEDC.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels voiced his appreciation for the grant, saying, “Without the continued investment of the state through WEDC, the redevelopment of the River Point District on our aggressive timeline would be extremely difficult.”
The site assessment is expected to be completed in December.
