
The Manitowoc County Health Department reported another death linked to COVID-19 just prior to Memorial Day Weekend.
This was the third death of the month and brings the death toll up to 72 in the County.
Also, seven new cases were reported on Friday (May 28th), bringing the pandemic total up to 7,632, and the number of hospitalizations in the area jumped up by three to 21.
On the vaccination front, 257 more shots were administered, with 116 of those going into the arms of first-time patients. A total of 65,692 shots have now been given out, with 35,291 being first doses. 44.7% of county residents have gotten at least one shot, compared to 47.5% of Wisconsinites.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported only three new cases. That coupled with 8 recoveries leaves their pandemic totals at 13,827 confirmed cases, 13,605 recoveries, and leaves 77 cases active.
They did not report any new deaths, leaving that total at 145.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association has also reported that the number of people hospitalized throughout the state is at its lowest point since April of 2020. That number was reported to be at 186, surpassing the previous low of 192. The highest that number ever reached was 2,277, which occurred on November 17th, 2020.
