Manitowoc Police arrest a 40-year-old man and has recommended charges of OWI, Fourth Offense, and Five Counts of Felony Bail Jumping.
An officer was dispatched to the area of 16th and Madison Streets shortly after 8 p.m. last night (May 27th) on a witness account of someone driving on the curb and driving against the flow of traffic-almost striking multiple parked vehicles.
The suspect eventually ended up parked in the 1000 block of South 18th Street.
As the officer approached, he noticed the driver appeared intoxicated and disoriented. After originally denying drinking alcohol, the suspect admitted he drank “a little”. He was placed into handcuffs, taken to the back of the squad car, and after originally being uncooperative submitted to a blood draw at Holy Family Memorial then taken to the Manitowoc County Jail.
A preliminary breath test at the jail registered a BAC of .235, nearly three times above the legal limit.
The suspect also had a restriction on his driver’s license not to operate a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration greater than .02.
