A Sheboygan Falls organization that helps veterans by training emotional support dogs has joined forces with Festival Foods in its Icons program.
Dogs 2 Dog Tags founder Torre Willadsen was recently on the WCUB Breakfast Club, where he spoke with us about the program and explained that it is similar to the Shamrock sales for muscular dystrophy research.
When you check out at the Festival Foods locations in Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Oshkosh, Fond du Lac, and Fort Atkinson, simply donate and get your name put on the wall.
Because Dogs 2 Dog Tags serves the Sheboygan County area, Torre was a little surprised that the Fort Atkinson store picked them to be a part of the program.
“It was kind of weird because they are so far away,” he said. But at the same time, ”Fort Atkinson is a really big military area. They have the working dog memorial down there, and the veteran’s memorial.”
Another fundraising event on the horizon for the organization is the Ride to Rescue. This is actually the third annual iteration of the poker run event, which is being sponsored by VFW Post 9156 in Sheboygan.
“We will go from the Sheboygan VFW down to West Bend, then Fond du Lac,” Willadsen explained. “Then we stop in Kiel at the Badgers Den. There will be a tent there, and that is where we will be located to sell our gear and talk about what we are doing. Then it’s on to Osman.”
That event will take place on June 19th.
