
The Manitowoc County Health Department reported the highest number of people getting their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine yesterday (May 17th) since the April 16th report.
A total of 615 shots were administered, with 329 of those going into the arms of first-time patients. This brings the total number of shots given up to 63,335, with 34,122 of those being first doses.
In more good news, only five new cases were reported, bringing that total up to 7,581. The death toll remained unchanged at 70, while the number of people hospitalized in the area fell by five to 29.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the number of active cases is now below 100 for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Five more cases were reported by the Division of Public Health yesterday, along with 22 recoveries. This leaves the pandemic totals at 13,767 confirmed cases, 13,534 recoveries, and 91active cases.
The death toll did not change, remaining at 142.
