US Senator Ron Johnson has found an area where he can agree with Democratic President Joe Biden.
The Wisconsin Republican joined 43 other members of his party in signing a letter calling for Biden to back Israel in the conflict with Palestinians that has left many people dead. Progressives and humanitarian organizations have been outraged by the hostilities.
Rockets and bombs have killed civilians on both sides of the conflict – including four children who died in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza.
Wisconsin Congressman Mark Poca, a Democrat, takes the other side, tweeting: “We can’t allow the forced displacement of Palestinians who have lived in Sheikh Jarrah for generations.”
