A local organization for young boys and girls recently received a $10,000 donation from the West Shore Sportsman’s Club in Two Rivers.
The Cobia Division of the Sea Cadets is stationed in Manitowoc and is led by William Schwartz, who explained to Seehafer News what exactly the Sea Cadets program is.
He summarized the program by calling it, “the Navy’s version of the Boy Scouts/Girl Scouts.” Children can start with the program as young as 10, and can stay in until they are 17. At that point, if they decide to join the Navy, they can use their time with the Sea Cadets to start off at a high rank.
The Cobia Division recently helped the West Shore Sportsman’s Club out of Two Rivers. Greg Sutch explained that “The Sea Cadets spent a day providing community service to the club, helping out at our Spring Easter Egg Shoot. They set target, cleared plates, and assisted all day long at the club.”
That was the first time the two organizations worked together, but Sutch said that they will likely reach out to the Cobia Division again in the future.
