A Two Rivers man is scheduled to be sentenced today (May 11th) in Manitowoc County Court for a 2018 case involving a high-speed chase and the death of a high school sports coach.
Timothy J. Hallet was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on charges of Homicide by Intoxicated Use of a Motor Vehicle, and Fleeing or Eluding an Officer Resulting in Death, with five other charges being dismissed, but written into the record.
Hallet was driving in Mishicot on December 16th, 2018, when a police officer attempted to pull him over. However, Hallet took off at speeds of around 100 MPH and crashed into a truck being driven by 25-year-old Chris Klein at the intersection of State Highway 147 and Crystal Springs Road in the Town of Two Rivers.
Klein, who was the Track and Field Coach at Roncalli at the time, died at the scene.
Hallet will be sentenced at 10:00 AM this morning (May 11th) by Judge Jerilyn Dietz in Branch 2, and 50 members of Klein’s family have requested to be allowed into the courtroom for the hearing.
In a statement to Seehafer News, one family member said, “Timothy may have to sit in prison for a few years, but that will never add up to what he has taken from Christopher or from his family and friends. We will never get the years and memories he has stolen from us back.”
