After receiving backlash from the public, schools in the Luxemburg-Casco School District will be required to enforce masking and COVID-19 quarantine protocols.
The School Board had voted 4-3 to lift the measures during a May 5th meeting, a decision that was immediately meet by outrage from parents of students and the public.
The Board reconvened yesterday (May 10th) where they voted in unanimous fashion to reinstate masking and quarantine protocols.
Proponents on both sides of the issue spoke at the meeting last night, with the major sticking point being athletics.
Those in favor of the restrictions say that if the restrictions are in place, the students have a better chance of actually having a sports season, as some teams have opted not to play against the Spartans without them.
Those who support the original decision say that it was made in the spirit of freedom of choice.
