Manitowoc has been recognized as a Bird City every year since 2011 and recently had its status renewed by Bird City Wisconsin, which bestowed the High Flyer designation.
High Flyer status is awarded to communities that go above and beyond in their dedication to local conservation and education.
The organization recognized Manitowoc’s willingness to act to promote healthy bird populations.
Bird City Wisconsin was created in 2009 and began recognizing communities the following year.
Manitowoc celebrated World Migratory Bird Day at the Lincoln Park Zoo on Saturday, with a theme of “Sing, Fly, Soar – Like a Bird!”
