As the weather continues to warm up, and people begin engaging in more outdoor activities, the DNR is reminding ATV and UTV drivers to remain safe while operating their machines.
So far this year, twelve accidents on ATVs and UTVs have been fatal, which is twice as many as there were by this time last year. Many of this year’s accidents involved operators using roads and highways, few operators were safety certified and most were not wearing a helmet nor seatbelt.
The DNR is reminding riders to always ride sober, wear a seatbelt (if applicable), helmet, and other protective equipment.
Also, keep your speed in check for the terrain you are riding on, and keep in mind that even though they are called all-terrain, some slopes are too steep for them to get up, and can cause flip overs.
