Governor Tony Evers says the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee is making a bad decision by tossing his budget proposals out and starting from scratch.
He says issues like legalizing marijuana and expanding BadgerCare Plus insurance should be considered. The Democratic governor also wanted limits on the private voucher program and wanted public employees to be allowed to collectively bargain for wages.
Republicans on the budget committee decided to restart the process using the 2019 spending plan as a baseline.
