
Over the last month or so, the rate that people have been receiving the COVID-19 vaccines in Manitowoc County has been dropping significantly, but over the last two days that rate has gone up, allbeit only slightly.
738 more shots were administered yesterday (May 6th), with 161 of those going into the arms of first-time patients. That is 15 more first doses than the previous day and the highest single-day number since April 21st.
There have now been a total of 60,357 shots administered, with 33,058 of those being first doses, while the number of new cases went up by six yesterday to 7,529.
In some good news, there were no new deaths reported yet again, leaving that total at 69.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, there was one more death reported by the Division of Public Health. This individual is the 70 to 79-year-old age group and brings the death toll up to 142. So far this month, that total has risen by four, or on average, roughly one new death every other day.
There were also eight new cases and eight recoveries reported yesterday, leaving the pandemic totals at 13,706 confirmed cases, 13,442 recoveries, and 122 cases remain active.
