School Boards across all over are in a very difficult position.
If they keep their COVID-19 restrictions in place, they will receive criticism from the roughly 50% of citizens who believe the pandemic is on its way out, and that it’s not fair to the students.
But if they lift those restrictions, they will receive backlash from the other half of the population, which is exactly what happened to the Luxemburg-Casco School District.
Their School Board voted to lift their restrictions during a special meeting Wednesday evening(May 5th) and almost immediately started receiving criticism from parents and residents of the area.
One resident said that the lifting of these restrictions puts a false sense of security out for the rest of the community, even though the number of cases has been rising locally.
The District Superintendent, Glenn Schlender reportedly said that the board and administration may be meeting in the future to address the situation.
