WOMT Radio was named “Radio Station of the Year” for a Medium Market and “Social and Digital Operation” of the year on Friday night (April 30th).
This is the 2nd year in a row for both prestigious honors from The Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
Perhaps the most significant distinction was a 1st place award for “Best Pandemic-Related Service to the Community” and a 1st place award for “Best Coverage of Civil Discourse and Social Change” presented for reporting of the Manitowoc demonstrations and the special series of “After Further Review” interviews that provided the WOMT listener a 1st hand account of minorities in our community.
WOMT Radio also earned 1st place for Best Interview for the “Prevea Health Matters” show, 1st place for Best Sports Play-by-Play, 1st place for Best Promotional Announcement, 1st place for Best Public Service Announcement and 1st Place for Best News Feature story.
Due to the pandemic of 2020, Manitowoc Lincoln High Scholl had to cancel in-person Graduation. WOMT recorded, produced and aired a special “2020 Lincoln High Graduation” ceremony and was presented a 1st place Award for the broadcast.
On the Social and Digital side, Best Online Personality was earned by Lee Douglas as well as a 1st place award for Best use of Social Media during the “United as One Find Raiser” and 1st place for “Best Online Breaking News Coverage” all through the Protest outside of the Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry which was started by “then Candidate” Joe Biden’s visit to Manitowoc.
In total, the team of writers and producers for WOMT and Seehafernews.com were recognized with 25, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards over 28-categories.
