The Manitowoc County Mariners and the Green Bay Blizzard football teams kicked off their seasons over the weekend, to very different results.
The Mariners played the Eastern Wisconsin Slayers at the field next to Magee Elementary in Two Rivers on Saturday, and kept it close through the first quarter, but ended up losing 50-6.
The Mariners will take the next two weeks off, before taking on the Slayers on the road on May 22nd.
The Green Bay Gamblers fared much better in their season opener, as they defeated the Massachusetts Pirates 40-36.
The next game for the blizzard will be on May 7th at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
