When you hear of active shooter situations most people think, “Well that will never happen here.” But it did happen at the Oneida Casino over the weekend, as two victims and the gunman died in a shooting incident Saturday evening (May 1st).
The details of the incident have been slowly trickling out over the weekend. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office has stated that the yet unnamed suspect entered the Duck Creek Bar and Grill, located inside the attached Raddison Hotel looking to attack a specific individual.
However, when he learned that the individual was not there, the shooter instead shot and killed two acquaintances of the target. A third person was also injured in the shooting, and at last word is listed as suffering serious injuries.
The shooter was killed by law enforcement.
Oneida Nation Chairman Thassi Hill thanked law enforcement for their quick response time, who are still interviewing witnesses to learn as much as they can about the shooting.
If you were a witness to the incident and have not been interviewed by police, or have any information about the case, you are encouraged to call 920-448-4229.
The Sheriff’s Department will be holding a press conference at 10:00 AM at the Sheriff’s Office, located at 2684 Development Drive in Green Bay.
