The Manitowoc Lincoln Boys are Cross Country Sectional champions.
The Ships defeated eleven other teams including runner-up Fond du Lac at Saturday’s Alternate Fall Sectional Meet in Whitewater.
Lincoln Coach Michael Bubolz tells us that sophomore Mason Gates continued to lead the way for his squad and led the race wire-to-wire for an individual Sectional title.
Mason was able to pace his running mates Sam Jacobson, Max Bailey, Zach Bergner, Isaac Merten, Carson Zutz, and Matt Abler to the state meet.
In the Girls’ race at Whitewater, Manitowoc’s Elena Zavala finished 8th overall and qualifies for state.
Elena and her teammates wound up with a 5th place finish out of twelve schools at Sectional.
The State Boys & Girls Alternate Fall Cross Country Championships will be held this Saturday at Blackhawk Golf Course in Janesville.
