A young mother in Kewaunee County is pleading not guilty to a child neglect charge in her baby’s drowning death.
Cheyanne Wierichs is accused of leaving the seven-month-old child alone in a bathtub for several minutes while she was listening to a song on YouTube last February.
The baby drowned.
During a Thursday hearing, the judge approved her release so she can enter an addiction treatment facility.
If she is convicted she could face up to 25 years in prison.
