The Two Rivers School District has selected Diane Johnson as their new Superintendent. She will succeed Lisa Quistorf who is retiring effective June 30th after six years on the job and 30 total years in the District.
Johnson spoke with Seehafer News about why she wanted to take the position.
“I saw the Two Rivers job open, and of course it’s a beautiful part of the State, so that drew me to the area,” she said, “but then while researching and exploring Two Rivers, [I noted] that their beliefs matched my beliefs.”
Johnson comes to the Cool City from Birchwood-a small community in northwestern Wisconsin where she has served in a similar capacity for the last five years. Johnson’s educational career spans nearly thirty years earning both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Later she earned her principal license from UW-Superior and her superintendent license from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee.
Johnson has worked in several Wisconsin communities including Glenwood City and Port Washington. In Birchwood, she was part of a recent effort to pass a five-year, $5.8 million referendum.
Johnson says Two Rivers is the right fit for her.
“They believe that every child will succeed,” she explained. “Every adult in the building is there to ensure that all the kids succeed. Morals placed on the whole idea of supporting children…has always been my philosophy.”
The new TR Superintendent also believes strongly that the Community and School District must work hand in hand to succeed.
“I hope that when I get there on July 1st that the community feels open to stop in and say ‘Hello’,” she told Seehafer News. “I certainly will be a part of organizations, and clubs, and churches, and everything else in the community. I really look forward to meeting new people and being a part of a great group of people.”
Her husband Tom is currently a music teacher in the Birchwood District. They have four children Including two girls who’ll be attending school in Two Rivers this fall.
Quistorf says of Johnson’s hire, “I’m very excited about Diane’s transition to Two Rivers and what she can bring to our community.”
