
A day after only 50 new patients received a COVID-19 vaccine, the numbers recovered a little bit in Manitowoc County.
575 more shots were administered yesterday (April 18th), with 189 of those being first-time patients. In total 56,792 shots have been administered, with 32,314 of those being first dose shots. 40.9% of county residents have gotten at least one dose, compared to 42.5% of Wisconsinites.
Also, three new cases were added, bringing the pandemic total up to 7,482, with no new deaths coming in since the April 9th report.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, a variant of the virus was detected. This is the third variant strain found in the County, and this one is known as the P.1 variant. The Centers for Disease Control classify this virus as a “variant of concern”.
Also, one more person has died from the virus according to the Division of Public Health. This individual was between the ages of 70 and 79, and brings the death toll up to 138.
Also, five new cases were reported alongside 15 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,639 confirmed cases, 13,374 recoveries, and leaves 127 cases active.
