
After a very strong start, the number of people in Manitowoc County who are getting the COVID-19 vaccine is continuing to slow.
827 more shots were administered between Saturday (April 24th) and Monday afternoon, but of those only 282 were first-time patients. This brings the total number of shots given up to 55,975, with 32,075 of those going into the arms of first-time patients.
Around 40.6% of county residents have received the shot, compared to the state’s rate of 42.1%. At one point Manitowoc County was leading the state in vaccination rate, but that is no longer the case.
Also, six more cases of the virus were reported over the weekend, bringing the pandemic total up to 7,466, with no new deaths. That number remains at 69.
The hospitalization number continues its up and down trend, as it is now back up to 29 after being as low as 24 last Thursday.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, 15 new cases were added over the weekend, with 27 people recovering.
This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,624 confirmed cases, 13,351 recoveries, and leaves the active case count at 137.
The death toll remained stagnant at 136.
