Manitowoc County ended last week on a bit of a sour note, at least when it comes to new COVID-19 cases.
According to the County Health Department, 13 new cases were reported on Friday (April 23rd), which was the second day in a row where double-digit new cases were added. That brings the pandemic total up to 7,460, while 27 people are hospitalized with the virus. That number has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride all month, reaching as high as 33, and as low as 20.
There were no new deaths reported on Friday, leaving that number at 69 for the past two weeks.
On a bit of a good note, it appears that more people are getting their first shot of the vaccine.
After several days where a relatively low number of people were getting the shot, 256 more people got their first dose, out of a total of 791 shots administered. That brings the totals up to 55,148 total shots given, with 31,793 of those going into the arms of first-time patients.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan, the Division of Public Health reported 14 new cases on Friday, along with 22 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,609 confirmed cases, 13,324 recoveries, and 157 cases remain active.
They also did not report any deaths, leaving that total at 136.
