According to a report issued by the American Lung Association, both Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties’ air quality is not so great.
Of the 26 total counties surveyed over a three-year period, a total of 6 received an “F” grade, including the two local counties.
The study does say that overall, the state’s air quality is pretty good, with fewer unhealthy ozone days, and improvements have been made in particle pollution, at least compared to the previous report.
That being said, Sheboygan and Milwaukee Counties were listed as two of the worst in the nation.
A big part of that is the impact that pollution from Chicago has made on the area, as it can flow freely over Lake Michigan into those areas.
