Sports appear to be coming back to UW-Green Bay’s Manitowoc, Marinette and Sheboygan Campuses.
Jamie Schramm, Campus Executive Officer for Sheboygan and Manitowoc, said “The return of competitive sports fulfills a commitment and trend that all of our UW-Green Bay campuses will emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.”
She added, “Our dedication to students and connection with our communities is unwavering.”
Penny Maletzke, program manager for competitive sports, explained that initial offerings will be women’s volleyball this fall, men’s basketball in the winter and men’s & women’s tennis next spring.
She said the campuses are starting with fewer options returning from the pandemic, but with anticipation of adding more offerings in the future.
A newly-formed WCSL, Wisconsin Competitive Sports League, also including Fond du Lac, Fox Cities, Marshfield, and Wausau, will compete again each other in a conference format and also have the flexibility to schedule other comparable programs both in and out of state.
