Administered COVID-19 vaccination rates have decreased significantly in Manitowoc County over the last several days.
Health Officer Stephanie Lambert says in part the report of six women developing blood clots from the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine with one dying has made some think twice about receiving the vaccine.
“A recent study published by the Center for Disease Control shows that people fully vaccinated with the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine were ninety percent less likely to become infected with the virus.”
Lambert emphasizes that if you’ve received either vaccine “you can’t let your guard down just yet.”
“Current guidance continues to recommend masking around non-vaccinated people. It’s still possible but less likely for a fully vaccinated person to spread the disease.”
Manitowoc County’s top health Official adds “Getting vaccinated gives you the power to make a direct impact on community spread and playing a part on getting us back to normal.”
Production of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine has been suspended until further notice.
