A Touch of Harmony, a quartet with the Clipper City Chourdsmen welcomed guests to Manitowoc’s City Hall last night, as the winners of the 2021 Spring Election were sworn in.
Jason Prigge of Coolest Coast was the MC at the event held along the Manitowoc River, where he spoke about all the good that is happening in the City, both that are visible, and that is not seen by the public eye.
“What you don’t know is there are people in this building right here working their tails off all the time to make that happen,” he said. “It doesn’t happen by magic, it happens when hard-working people, when called, stand up, raise their hand and say “Yes I will serve. I will be and Alder,’ and ‘Yes I will run for Mayor.’”
After that quick introduction, the swearing-in began for Aldermen Brett Vanderkin in District 1, Chad Beeman in District 2, Michael Cummings in District 3, Tim Boldt in District 7, and Todd Reckelburg in District 10.
Mayor Justin Nickels was also sworn in for his fourth term and addressed those in attendance.
“President Kennedy once said that efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction,” Nickels said. “The Citizens voted overwhelmingly for the purpose and direction, and now it is on the shoulders of those of us here to make the effort, and to have the courage to do what is best for all citizens of our community.”
Meanwhile, in Two Rivers, Curt Andrews was sworn in for his second term on the City Council, while Jeff Dahlke and Tracey Koach took their oath of office for the first time. They also held an election to decide who would be the Council President and Vice-President, with those roles going to Curt Andrews and Adam Wachowski respectively.
