The Two Rivers City Council met last night and acted on some financial matters including a budget amendment which City Manager Greg Buckley says frees up funding for improvements to a popular “Cool City” destination.
“That would free up $28,000 from the Capital budget from savings to a couple of projects to add to a line item for Parks-Playground equipment. This will authorize us to improve and/or replace some playground equipment at Neshotah Park –some of which is twenty years old.”
The Council gave their blessing on resolutions to borrowing for 2020 capital funds projects in the amount of $1.915 million.
“They also approved a resolution authorizing for potential interest savings on some existing city debt. That would not be extended out for a longer time period but would be refinanced for a 17-year term if better interest rates can be had.”
Eli Bolst was acknowledged as a new mechanic at the Wastewater Plant along with Joe Kaiser recently promoted to journeyman-lineman status with the city’s electric utility. They also recognized Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year Award winners John Stick and Tara Hulawinski from 2019 and 2020 respectively in conjunction with National Volunteer Week which runs thru this Saturday.
