A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly attacked his mother and fled from the police.
Officers were sent to a home in the 1100 block of Marshal Street just after 9:00 PM on Sunday on a family trouble call. Dispatch reported hearing “lots of yelling” in the background of the call.
When they arrived, the officers spoke with a witness, who explained that the 20-year-old suspect had pushed his way into the home and began punching his mother.
The victim corroborated the story, and the officer told the suspect that he was going to be taken into custody.
He made a comment along the lines of they would have to shoot him to take him in. When officers grabbed his wrist to put the cuffs on, he broke free and took off on foot.
An officer was eventually able to take the suspect to the ground in the 1100 block of 12th Street and brought him to the County Jail.
He is now facing charges of Disorderly Conduct with a Domestic Violence Enhancer, Obstructing an Officer, and Resisting an Officer.
