A business owner in Appleton recently displayed a homophobic slur on his digital sign, which resulted in a group of outraged citizens gathering outside his business.
James Boyce has since taken the slur down, but that didn’t stop the group of peaceful protesters from gathering on Saturday.
Many of the demonstrators said they were there to show the LGBTQ+ community in Appleton that they are loved and accepted, while others voiced their anger at Boyce.
He claimed that he put the slur on his sign in an attempt to make fun of the government, claiming that it is something Joe McCarthy used to say.
Boyce did not break any laws, as the digital sign is covered by Freedom of Speech laws.
