Another wrinkle has been thrown into the Steven Avery murder case, as his defense team has admitted new evidence, and is looking to bring the case back to trial.
The documents, filed by Avery’s Attorney Kathleen Zellner, claim a newspaper delivery driver claim to have seen Avery’s nephew, and his co-defendant Brendan Dassey’s brother Bobby pushing a Toyota RAV-4 on the Avery property, along with an unidentified man in his 50s or 60s.
This allegedly occurred in the early morning hours of November 5th, 2005, which was only days after Theresa Halbach went missing.
As a reminder, Halbach was driving a RAV-4 when she arrived at the Avery Salvage Yard to take a picture of a vehicle earlier that week.
The witness claims to have attempted to report his sighting to the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office, but a female on the line reportedly said “We already know who did it.”
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is, at last word, reviewing the new evidence.
