The Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department wants to inform the public of a scam call hitting Manitowoc County.
The Sheriff’s Office says that a citizen recently received a call from a person stating he was Connor James from the Sheriff’s Office and that the citizen had to provide a DNA sample but before providing it he would have to send them $1,036.
The citizen recognized it was a scam once the perpetrator told him not to come down to the Sheriff’s Office as it would void the warrant that was out for him.
You are encouraged to share with family and friends that scammers are trying to identify themselves as local law enforcement to pressure people out of their money.
