Milwaukee police say the 12-year-old driver of one of the cars in a three-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon ran from the scene.
She was taken into custody a short time later, and her name hasn’t been released.
Investigators say she was driving a stolen car when she failed to yield while making a turn and was hit.
They say she hit a third car while trying to leave the scene before taking off on foot.
A 40-year-old woman, a 37-year-old woman, and an eight-year-old boy were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.
Criminal charges are being referred to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office.
