
The votes have been tabulated, and Justin Nickels will be serving another term as Manitowoc’s Mayor.
Having received 4,902 votes compared to 2,247 for his challenger Chris Able, Mayor Nickels said he is excited to continue to serve the citizens of the Clipper City.
As far as the Aldermanic races go, in District One, Brett Vanderkin defeated Theresa Schmitt 336 to 190, while Michael Cummings toppled Theresa Collins 325 to 294. Tim Boldt will be representing District Seven after coming out on top over Scott Pelot 343 to 149, while Chad Beeman and Todd Reckelburg ran unopposed in Districts Two and Ten respectively.
All of those winners will be serving for two-year terms.
In Two Rivers, it was a very competitive race for Two Rivers City Council with all 3 candidates elected at large. Curt Andrews received the most votes at 902, followed by Tracey Koach with 880 and the 3rd successful candidate, Jeff Dahlke, finishing 3rd with 862 votes.
Meanwhile, in the runoff for Two Rivers School Board, the 2 candidates elected were Zak Peterson with 1,062 and Maria Veldre who polled 975 votes.
As far as the Manitowoc School District is concerned, Stacy Soeldner, Kerry Trask, Collin Braunel, and Lisa Johnston were the top four vote-getters and will join the Board of Education. Soeldner received the most support, garnering 4,595 votes, and will, along with Trask, serve on the board for three years. Braunnel got 3,409 votes and will serve a two-year term, and Johnston, who received 3,292 votes, will serve a one-year term.
Also, the $4.3 million referendum passed by a vote of 59% for and 41% against. However, an $11.5 million referendum in Reedsville failed to garner enough support and was shot down by a 738 to 426 vote.
In Kellnersville, the Advisory Referendum to change the intersection of County Highways T and K to a four-way stop came up just short, with 55 voting against, and 43 in favor.
It was a tightly contested race for the Mishicot School Board, as Carol Lambert earned 587 votes, followed by Al Zirzow and his 504 votes. Just missing out on a seat on the board was Marie Steeber, who garnered 485 votes.
Meanwhile, several Village Presidential races were decided, with Eugene Schneider defeating Beverly Linzmeier 86 to 56 in Whitelaw, Lake Holzwart toppled Al Forner in Cleveland, and Thomas Wetenkamp beat Mike Vallesky 259-206 and will serve as the Town Supervisor in Manitowoc Rapids.
These results are unofficial until the Board of Canvassers conducts an official count of all ballots.
